Sample mashup I worked on

Postby crow » Wed Feb 28, 2007 8:16 pm

Hey peeps!
Just on a quick break from studying and I kinda got some ideas together on a simple mashup. I might get this one done with later on but here's a sample: or

There are some mistakes here n there but I'm expecting some comments about the idea itself. Would be a great mashup wouldn't it?

I cut up some parts using VDJ and i kinda did the whole thing on Sound Forge. It's just easy. There's a skip in Tri-State if you've noticed... That's the part that I looped a bit but my sample loop was crap. I really liked the idea though. It added more emotion to the track itself. It's like Ray Wilson's words gave extra meaning if you know what I mean.
So any comments?

The Idea is very nice...I kinda liked it

I just have a small question: - did you take into consideration the Harmonic mixing? In other words did you adjust the keys of both tracks so that they match each other?

yeah ofcourse i did. i always mix harmonically. both tracks are at 136 bpm so i dont think i can change the keys to match them together. tri-state's pianos fit very well during the breakdown, so im thinking of using robert nickson's intro mix and then after the intro, yet another day would kick in then again during the breakdown i'd introduce the pianos.

Dude, tempo is unchanged pitch blend in a track. Pitch and tempo are totally different! If you have a 136 bpm track, for instance, and you change the pitch to lets say 140, then there's a huge increase in pitch blend, causing the key to change once or twice from its original state; however, if i increase the tempo of it to 140 bpm, then the key will stay the same no matter what! That, my friend, is called time-stretching

Now here ur asking me to match the keys without changing the pitch or time-stretching? that's insane =/ if there's some sort of software out there that does that kind of shit then please enlighten me :D

he3!

glad you like it though :) Thanks for the comments.

Yalla more ppl to come!! COMMENT OR ELSE!!

My inforrmation are a bit different from urs :\

What I know is that for every increase or decease of 6% in the track's tempo it's key automatically changes into another one, unless you use the "master tempo" option on the CD players...Dunno maybe I'm mistaken!

But what I was telling you is that you can change a track's key without changing it's tempo, because you mentioned that you have both track's @ 136bpm...

Here are two samples of the same track, each with the same tempo, yet a different key:
