OMG ... NOT AGAIN

Hey TH-lings :) ,

Lately I've been practicing so much that its started to make my older trials look like blue cheese. I've been more into breakbeat that straight 4/4's ... I guess its more of what I feel.

Anywho ... instead of "deciBel" being my producer alias ... i've chosen "Second Light". I shall remain as "deciBel/dB" while I DJ. More info at: www.myspace.com/secondlightdb *just read the blog, lol*

There (on teh despised myspace), you'll find one of my works (Individual Minds) which is still unfinished AND my bootleg that i've done with my matey Tijest from South Africa.

Today, I was fluttering around and came up with this ... in 2hrs. There's more to it of course, but I was pretty excited ... uploaded it, just to make a friend of mine listen. Its got a James Bond feel to it, imo, lol.

Appreciate feedback + constructive criticism.

Pip-pip .. cheerio!

The output is "ok" according to the 2 hrs of work..
However, u focused more on variation of percussions, which r not bad actually.. But should work more though..add more melodies.. the one u composed is really boring..
Plus, i dun like the KICK sound btw..maybe a more punchy one would be better..
Waiting for da full one..

Cheers :D

Raneem: Thanks for the tips. I'm still working on the Kicks ... it's always been a problem, lol. About the 'boringness' ... its because its supposed to keep that 'dark' theme, but i'm trying some subtle melodies that could fit it. I've added a bassline that suits it and i've also changed some chord progressions.

Tijest: BIOOOOOOTCH! Dude ... we gotta brainstorm up some ideas. Talk to me on msn ... lol.

Divine_mz: Hey :) , yeah ... you've got the right flow, i'm searching for some good synths that suit the anger, still looking. Dunno if i'll add guitars ... maybe as a final touch ... but for now, no. Not looking for the James Bond theme exactly anyway ... it just turned out to be more 'espionage'-ish. Heh.

mmmm it's not bad but i u have to work on progressing it a bit. you got a perfect transition potential in the ending seconds of the track that can unleash a beast upon hearing it :P it is mostly based on percussions i can say but my opinion is to continue the 'evolution' of the track and make suitable adjustments in the first part when u compare it with the whole track in general. gd luck :D

it DLed far quicker than I'd anticipated... joy :)

i'm now in the process of lsning to it for the second time

so hold up, "boring"? my personal opinion is this is anything BUT boring... if anything, and considering it's a mere sample as opposed to a full-fledged track, i see a lot of potential in this... definitely needs more work, but it's got the intensity... it's got feel to it... this'd work incredibly well as the opening track to a set... my opinion, take the bass up a few notches- if that even makes any sense... like raneem said, you need a punch thrown in there... something that'll take your lsners afar...

as a whole, i say props to you love... and good luck... unquestionably worthy of keeping an eye on ;)

The track has its own style actually, too dark and deeper than any other tune I've ever heard ... it's cool. I say the lack of energy/bass was quite noticeable, however not really bad since it could really help for an opening up by adding more and heavier percussions in order to create a good kind of a diversity in the track itself through a pretty slow progression, yet by also keeping the same good homogeneous structure.
Also the good thing is that what "Second Light" made can be very useful for an introduction to many music styles, for instance dark & proggy house, trance or Psychedelic beats can suit this "intro" very well ... So yah, still needs a lot of work in my opinion.

haha Two Hours ? What were you doing the rest of the day, library man?
