Actually, Aquilani was more expensive than Valencia, by 1M pounds!
And, like Gen, no arguments for Berbatov... he looks like a world beater on his day, but way too inconsistent, and he goes missing when the games get tough..
But anyway, this brings to my attention an interesting point, namely that prices in football are no longer the same. Maybe we're used to watching and following football from a while back, so we're still used to "old" prices. The sharp rise of money in football has quickly risen but we haven't noticed it.
A few years back, we would be laughing at the suggestion that Valencia would cost 16M pounds, or that Benzema would cost 41M euros... But it's different now... prices have risen, and if clubs want to get good players, they have to pay the big bucks. With the Chelseas, Man Citys and Real Madrids, don't expect the prices to come down any time soon
