Group favorites Liverpool kick-started their European campaign with a bad performance. The Prem leaders could only managed a draw agaisnt Porto and had Jermaine Pennant sent off for 2 bookings, the second being for a useless, wild tackle on Porto's fullback. Kuyt's header cancelled out Gonzales's penalty.
Marseille got an important win against Turkish club Besiktas. Rodriguez scored in the 76th minute, & Djibril Cisse sealed the win in the last minute at the Velodrome.

Chelsea carried their domestic form into Europe & drew against Norwegian champions Rosenborg in front of a semi-full, angry Stamford Bridge.Andrei Shevchenko scored for the Blues after Koppinen had opened the scoring against the run of play.
David Villa scored for Valencia as they secured an invaluable away win at German club Schalke

Real Madrid have kept their 100% record of the season by seeing off Werder Bremen at the Bernabeu. Raul opened the scoring, only for Sanogo to equalize a minute later. V.Nistelrooy scored in the 74th minute to win it for the Spanish Champions
Olympiakos held Lazio at home to a 1-1 draw.Galetti scored for the Greeks,Zauri equalized for the Italians.

Champions AC Milan got off to a winning start by beating Benfica. Early goals by Pirlo and Inzaghi secured the 3 pts, despite Nuno Gomez's last minute goal.
Shakhtar scored two goals in 2 minutes to see off Scottish champions Celtic very early in the game. Brandao scored after 6 minutes, Lucarelli 2 minutes later

Barcelona swept aside potentially their most dangerous rivals in this group. A Clerc own-goal, a wonderfully team-worked Messi goal and a last minute Henry goal blitzed French champions Lyon
Rangers came back from 1 down to win 2-1 against German champions Stuttgart. Adam & Darcheville scored for the hosts, Gomez for the guests.

Manchester United made it 4 1-0 wins in a row, this time away to Sporting. Cristiano Ronaldo scored from a diving header to secure the 3 pts.
AS Roma easily saw off Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev at the Olimpico, with goals from Perotta & skipper Totti

Fenerbahce shocked Italian champions Inter Milan by winning 1-0, thanks to Deivid's spectacular volley.
PSV Eindhoven beat CSKA Moskow 2-1 at home. Lazovic & Perez for the Dutch, Vagner Love for the Russians

Arsenal continued their great domestic form & put 3 past Sevilla. Fabregas scored again,Van Persie got the 2nd & Da Silva came off the bench to score the 3rd.
Slavia Prague got their first win in Europe by beating Steaua Bucuresti at home, thanks to goals from Senkerik and Belaid. Goian got one back for the Romanians
