Corruption in football

We all know what happened in the Italian Serie A last season and the decisions taken after the World Cup 2006 final. I "voted" for a punishment of the clubs involved, despite the fact that i'm a big fan of Juventus. Of course it's sad because the players were betrayed by their own president imo. But these decisions were necessary. Let me also remind you about the corruption scandal hitting Germany a few months before the World Cup 2006. Referees and players got also arrested. Around 2 weeks ago i read an article in the sports category of a Polish news portal. For the last 2 to 3 years there have been scandals about the corruption in the national football federation (PZPN) and in the first 2 leagues. Last year justice decided to do a deep investigation and punish the clubs involved. 1 or 2 years ago the head of the "football mafia" was arrested for paying the referees and some players. So 2 weeks ago 2 clubs in the first league got relegated (one is 10th and the other 14th with 16 clubs in the championship). The investigators are still looking for more proofs concerning other clubs whether it is in the first or the second league. PZPN has also been suspended by the ministry of sports in the beginning of 2007 despite FIFA's refusal of doing so (because politics can't intervene in the sports world). This decision was taken because the president of the Federation didn't want to quit.

So, here are the questions:
What are your opinions about this "cancer"?
What would be your solutions if you were chosen to solve this problem?
What decisions would you take to punish the clubs/referees/players/federation admins?
Why is EPL so clean? (off-topic example: no racism and no fights in the stadiums) Do you think that referees in France are helping some clubs (example: in the first half of the season there were 3 imaginary penalties against Marseille)? What about Spain (most recent example: imaginary penalty against Real Madrid at Santander and 1 imaginary red card)?
Do you think corruption is something the world will never get rid of?

I also "voted" for a punishment for what happened last year in Italy..Even thou I've been a Juve fan since 1995. Punishment was a wise choice, and Juve got largely what it deserved, but I don’t wanna hear anymore corruption scandals in my favorite league!
I was happy that the Italian justice actually did a severe move to never let this things happen again (Unlike many other scandal in other places in Europe, where it was solved with simple transactions or non-lasting fund cutting). Serie A sucked ass this year, but at least it was clean of dishonesty…

Now after discovering that Messina was also involved and that Juve was corrupting games in the 2003/2004 season (won by AC Milan), the scandal is titling again the Italian newspapers and this is pissing me off!
I hope that Messina will get severe points removed (since it already looks like they r heading to Serie B).. But banning Juve again would be the most undeserved decision!
All of the old corrupted Juve’s Administration have been kicked out and replaced! It would be really unfair to punish the new ones! Specially that they worked their ass out to clean the mess of their predecessors and to get out of serie B!!

corruption in Football... is not that big of a deal.. when u compare it to many other sports.

Matter of fact, its only done in rare and far in between cases!

to cut a long story short, as long as their something called GAMBLING.. there will always be corruption!

try checking out my X-Favorite sport... BOXING... it is so corrupted, and scripted, that its almost no different than WWF (wrestling).

Another major sport that THRIVES on corruption is American Baseball... it is also probably one of the biggest gambling mediums in Vegas, and Panama!

one of my best friends, back in the day, got this excellent lead, that used to sell him amazing "Tips" on results, that he made tens of thousands of dollars in less than 6 months...

^ omg... "excellent" lead eh i think that corruption penetrates popular sports only. I dont see how snooker can be corrupted for example!

You can't deny one thing that the players gave all their best in these 2years, juventus played great football and giving last year scudetto to Inter reallyy pissed me off, the scandale happened and all teams involved got punished spec juventus, nd re-punishing juventus is just insane it's like killing the Serie A.
Juventus lost most of their players/2 DESERVED scudettos/lots of money, i think thats enough.
Ugh not to add i fuckin hate inter now!!

i prefer the answer "not to be", with an oligarche owning the club, the probability is higher that all this youth-oriented culture will be destroyed... unless this new owner decides to do the same as the one in Liverpool: retain the tradition!
About the minute's silence... i've watch a lot of spanish liga games and i saw some with this respectful minute. Unfortunately it's not supposed to be called a minute (does the referee get bored of counting the 60 seconds? ) and we even hear a lot of fans talking!

More verdicts to come in the Polish leagues.
Zaglebie Lublin (currently #2 with the same number of points as the first GKS), Korona Kielce (#4) and Cracovia (#8, where the pope John Paul II used to play as a goalkeeper in his teen years) will be sent to the 2nd league because of the evidences against them. Arka Gdynia and Gornik Leczna have already been punished.
