well after bein hit by a storm that goes with the name of PAUL VAN DYK this sunday is gonna feature another storm from another kind:the world cup final...berlin will host the most awaited game in the last 4 years...france & italy 2 big names in football will face each other 4 the gr8test trophy of all...many refer 2 this game as a revenge 4 the rotterdam final in 2000 that witnessed a dramatic italian defeat in extra-time...lets start off by saying that all stats r 4gotten @ this stage of this competition...both teams were harshly criticised @ the beginning of this world cup...while raymond domenech was attacked by the french press 4 his choices concernin his team marcello lippi had 2 help his players forget the problems in the calcio...

lets start with italy...the 1st round wasnt very easy against athletics & talented teams like ghana & czech republic & the squadra had 2 wait till its last game against the czech 2 confirm their qualification...the 2nd round saw italy face australia & had 2 wait till the last minute of injury time 2 be awarded a controversial penalty that got them through this round...in the 1/4 finals italy had a joyride against ukraine & easily made it 2 the semi-finals 4 their 1st big test against the hosting nation...in a game that proved 2 be 1 of the most excitin & entertainin in this tournament italy overcame germany in the last minutes of extra-time & clinched its spot in the final...
italy has proven throughout this world cup that their team is the most solid defensively conceiding only 1 goal(an own goal by zaccardo)...no wonder the 4 italians named 4 the best player award r all players with big defensive skills...their defence is led by the giant fabio cannavaro & rarely does mistakes...& this year we ve seen a new side of the italian game...i liked the way they execute their offense & it looks like lippi has given up the cattenacio 4 a more spectacular game...but beware from gettin 2 adventurous on the opponents goal coz germany proved that they were capable of overcomin their huge defence by creatin themselves spaces & counterattacking...but still italy has very reliable lines each 1 of them capable of doin its job in the best of way...france will have 2 watch its back b4 tryin 2 get themselves a goal because italy will have the upper hand if they open the score...

as 4 france...they had an even more difficult 1st round in a much easier group...but still they overcame the difficulties & made it 2 the 2 nd round after 2 draws against switzerland & south korea & a victory over togo...france moved 2 the next phase 2 meet spain in a game that was expected 2 be zidane's farewell...but between togo's game & spain's game domenech had found the winning formula that proved its efficiency against spain...france overcame the iberics in 1 of their best games...we thought we had seen it all in this game but france emerged even bigger against none other than brazil 4 their best game in 6 yrs...france dominated every single aspect of this game & proved that u dont need 2 have 11 football magicians on the pitch 2 win a game...it would just take a solid & coherent group & most of all a will 2 go far...france got 2 the 1/2 final & faced portugal in a very closed game that zidane & thuram managed 2 ctrl & get france 2 the place no1 expected them 2 be:the world cup final...

france has also proven 2 have a very gd defensive line led by another bianconeri player in the person of lilian thuram...france conceded 2 goals in this world cup(1 of them was a penalty by villa) but in its last 3 games proved 2 be very realistic & solid against world class strikers like ronaldinho cristiano ronaldo & many other...but their real strong point is their pair of defensive midfielders:makelele & vieira...the best pair in this world cup...these 2 guys provide zidane & henry with the best balls in the best positions & on the sides ribery & malouda provided a very gd activity & their motivation really helped this team carry on...zidane remains the maestro...as 4 henry some may criticize his lack of efficiency but myself i saw that the job he s doin is very important since he s liberatin all his teammates & givin them the space they need 2 move & create the occasions on the opponent's goal...

its gonna be really hard 2 name the winner...both teams will be very cautious 2nite & we ll have a very closed game...france played 3 big games b4 gettin here while italy faced only 1 big team(germany)in the 1/2 final...france is very accustomed 2 the system the italian play since they already faced it twice against portugal & brazil...but like i said all stats r 4gotten & put behind @ this stage of the competition...it may come down 2 the coaches & their choices...italy has a better bench & like we saw against germany lippi did excellent choices...de rossi will be back but i hope lippi will stick 2 the configuration that got him here...& in the end its gonna be zidane's last game...italy has 2 watch him very carefully but i believe that he ll be the difference in this game...2nite is zidane's farewell & i believe he ll try 2 make it a memorable 1...
i wont give my pronostic since i believe the 2 teams have equal chances...but i m sure of 1 thing:its not gonna be the most spectacular game we ll ever witness
