I have been a harsh critic of Italia's gameplay, but last night, I was smacked real hard across the face. Last night was a display of some quality football, and for that, I salute Marcello Lippi, I salute the Azzurri. Downright respect to a squad that kept hush-hush all throughout the World Cup, and then went BOOM against the host country that was on a roll throughout almost every match.
Although I was leaning towards Germany, I have to admit that I was disappointed at their lack of creativity, at their repetitive tactics, and at how they succumbed so easily to Lippi's solid back four. Cannavaro is divine, he is the epitome of sportsmanship. He's always been a favorite of mine (he's on my Fantasy team(, but last night confirmed that. Camoranesi did an exceptional job last night, respect to that.
ANYTHING was expected past the second half, and Italy produced MANY great things. A well-deserved win.
Respect to Lippi. A lot more respect to Klinsmann for his spirit and strength.
Just a question to Italia fans, why on earth was Materazzi playing? Augggh
