Many stoppages in play are entirely natural (e.g. throw-ins, goal kicks). An allowance is to be made only when these delays are excessive.

The fourth official indicates the MINIMUM additional time decided by the referee at the end of the final minute of each period of play.

The announcement of the additional time does not indicate the EXACT amount of time left in the match. The time may be INCREASED if the referee considers it appropriate but never reduced.

Aziz, quit blabbering. Could all you anti-united people just admit for once that united won a match fair and square?
If Shay Given wasn't on goal; United could, and should, have stitched it all up. But both team's defending was horrible and you just have to concede when you defend like City did. What's more, they kept City coming back to the game. United went ahead 4 times for crying out loud and they let them back in the game 3 times.


Giggs was amazing... I love this man, he just refuses to age!!
Get rid of Foster, the man is pure shite - you can goal keep like that in the premiership for United, let alone in a derby.



As for Owen's goal...

There was 4 minutes of extra added time.
Bellamy scored then celebrated for 56 seconds.
United made a substitution for 30 seconds.

So, 4 minutes + 56 secs + 30 secs = 5'26
Owed scored at 5'27.

Look it up.

Here is an article by The Guardian, that PROVES that ManScum always gets favoured by refs for added stoppage time, that goes both ways winning or not...

"In the wake of the liberal dash of stoppage time received by United, The Guardian — in conjunction with the the Opta Statistics Bureau — decided to take a look at the stoppage time in Manchester United matches at Old Trafford since the 2006-2007 season.

What they uncovered will not raise the Citizens' spirits.

United were ahead after 90 minutes in 48 matches over that time span. In those matches, they were given an average of 191.35 seconds of stoppage time — roughly three minutes.

In the 12 matches that United were behind after 90 minutes, they received over a minute of extra stoppage time, an average of 257.17 seconds. That's four and a quarter minutes of stoppage time — more than 65 seconds better than the extra time given when United was ahead.

This season, the discrepancy is nearly two minutes. In the two matches they led after 90 minutes, the referee added an average of 304 seconds, just a smidge over five minutes. On Sunday, United was given 415 seconds, just five seconds shy of seven minutes.

This is a disturbing trend, to say the least."

lol, Im not even a fan of those statistical conclusions. I was just reading through some news and this came up.

Statistics really don't reveal anything man. Especially not something like amount of stoppage time given.

I may, just MAY, pay attention to this stuff if you actually prove to me that EVERY time United needed the extra time, refs gave it to them when they didn't have sufficient reason to add that much.

it really doesn't matter. Congrats to the Man Scum fans. we may have lost due to a referee and City's defense is far far from anything great (my heart stop at every set piece against us). but 3 goals at Old trafford, coming back from goal down each time without our 2 (on paper) best players, proves to me one thing: ur last 2 decades were great, and congrats, but its OUR CITY!!!!
