Also known as Scarab, Rah, Ozone, Mono.
This boy's a true trance talent, a miracle in the world of trance, and definitly one of the most brilliant producers around with promising bright future.
Biography:
He wrote a very interesting biography of his career (Till March 2003), and here's how it goes:
"I'm born 27th of August 1980 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The last 20 years I have moved about 16 times to different locations, and has been going to over 6 different schools.
My family is very much into music. My father, Christer, has been a rock musician since 1960 or something, and one of my brothers works as one of the most successful tour managers in Sweden and rest of the world (Working with artist like Tina Turner, Backyard Babies, Robyn, Motorhomes, Bo Kaspers and many more). My second brother, a little younger than me, has always been a musical genious but he has other, greater intrests than music, but is now starting to find his talent for music production, and he is more into the Enigma-sound, but also pounding beats.
One of my sisters is one drop dead gorgeous vocalist and could easily sing any great Houston/Carey/Dion-song without having the slightest problem hitting the notes.
Well, what about me then, you might wonder? Well, My first intrest for music was when I 1992 heard the track 2 Unlimited - No Limit. This was so totally my music, and I played that CD more times than I have ever played a CD this far. The following years I bought every euro techno release there was. Maxx, Basic Element, Cappella, Ice MC, La Bouche and so on, lets not forget every single and album ever released by 2 Unlimited also.
After that, I one daycame across a cheap album by an act called RMB - This World Is Yours, an act that I have never heard about, but the album looked cool on the cover and it was supposed to be techno/rave on it. This was the first contact I had with trance music as it sounded at that time.
In 1995, I went to Finland, where I have most part of my relatives. There I met one of my cousins, one year older, that had gotten himself a computer, and also gotten his hands on something called ScreamTracker, that I thought was a music player, until he told me that you could make music with it. I was very intrested and got the software with a few st3-files (songs for ScreamTracker) on a few floppys.
When I got home, I could after many hours, play the files I got a copy of, but didnt have a clue on how to make music with it. My brother forced himself to learn it while I just lost the intrest. A few months later I heard my little brothers first tracks and I was very impressed even though they sounded shit. At this point I sat down and tried to make some myself.
After weeks and weeks, I made something not even close to what my brother could do in 10 minutes. I lost intrest again and was wondering if there was any other software that I could use. One of my friends had a software called PlayTracker, which was much more easy to understand, and after some time in that program, I got my hand on something called Fast Tracker. This was 1996 or 1997 or something. This software was a killer in my eyes and I started producing like a maniac.
In the meantime I set my basic MIDI-skills at school, where they ad this GM-Midi equipment, and I thank god that I learned Cubase at that time, today I wouldnt even bother to try learn that huge piece of software! After about 30 great tracks (Well, I thought they were great at that time), I thought I was the king of trance! I started to send demotapes to labels. I didnt know what labels I should send to, so I sent to all Swedish labels I could get hold of, and also all majors, like EMI, BMG, Virgin, Sony and Universal! Hehe, pretty funny when thinking of it now .
Anyways, I kept making music with FastTracker, improving much between every single track, and made about 70 tracks and about 4 albums (own made albums) named Beginners Level, Trance Spirits, Egoism and Dragonheart. In january 2000, I moved to Stockholm, the other side of this country, for a job. With my first paycheck, I went to a store to get myself a synth. I was going to buy a Yamaha CS2x, I still dont know why I was so eager to get exactly that one, but it was a good price and it is a fabulous beginners synth.
With this, and during all 2000 I made tracks after tracks, all better and better as I learned more and more about how the synth worked. Summer 2001 I made a remix for a remix competition arranged by Alphabet City in Germany. The competition was to remix Frigde - Mystery. I made a remix that I still today think is very very well produced when thinking of the equipment I used. Unfortunately I didnt win or even got on the top five, that I was hoping to enter. Confidence is always good to have .
During this competition, I got in contact with Thorsten, a guy who worked for Alphabet City, and after that we kept talking to eachothers. Everytime I finished a track, I sent it to him, as he was working on a label and he knew what works and what wont work on dancefloors, radio and toplists. The first 5 months and atleast 15-20 tracks later, he had not one single time mentioned any track even beeing above average, and this was all a good thing for, me as I put even more pressure on myself!
Since the beginning of that summer, Tommie, my best friend, had been nagging me about trying this new cool software that a swedish company has made, Reason. Not until september, somewhere after that Fridge remix competition, I really understood what Reason could do for me. I totally went over to Reason, and closed down Cubase for good. My first track made in Reason, Spin, was a lousy production that had great harmonies and a very strange break. Still I get mails from people telling me that this is my best track this far! Of course its not my best, but if they think so, I wont stop them!
One day in november 2001, I think, he contacted me and told me that he had made a CD-R with all my tracks that I had sent him during this time, and given it to the boss at Alphabet City. The boss hooked up on one track in special, called "Emotion". This was one of the first, really decent trance-productions made by me, and they wanted me to release it on Alphabet City. A contract was signed and the 20th of May, 2002, the vinyl was released!
Happiest day of my life
During the wait, I have continued to produce music, and alot has happened:
In december 2001, I remixed Double N feat. Maria Rubia - Forever and A Day for their worldwide release. It was released in the beginning of January I believe. Since then, together with a friend artist, Inzite, I reproduced an old track named Unity Of Earth, that will be released on a finish label named EMT-Design with remixes by CosmicMan, Shane 54, DualSpin and Tbo & Vega.
Earthbound, one of the most successful dance artists in Sweden heard my track "Spin", that old one, and asked if I could remake it and they would help me to get it on the swedish compilation "Trance 2002".
As the remake is not totally finished, this has not yet come true, but Im working on it! I sent them a first preview of the remake, and they loved it, and also told me that they want me to remix their forthcoming single.
As I am one of the owners of trance.nu, the biggest trance community online, I had gotten in contact with some norwegian guys. One day they came to sweden, along with a bunch of other people working for the site, just for a party. One of them, Lars, wanted me to make a CD with some of my tracks, so he could give it to DJ Stigma, one of the biggest DJs in Norway, who he knew.
He got a CD, and a few weeks later, I heard from him. The thing was that DJ Stigma just loved my track Dreamer and wanted it on the next compilation that he was supposed to make, Goliath - International DJs. So a contact was signed, and the track is on there now, but under a different name, The Scarab. Airbase is dedicated to Alphabet City, therefor the other name.
The compilation was released the 29th of May 2002. Along with all this, DJ Stigma asked me if I could remix his forthcoming single "The Answer". So I did, trying to make something not that uplifting but more mature trance, something between the Silence-remix by Tiesto of the Delerium-track, mixed up with the sound of Dreamer.
I must have been very lucky as DJ Stigma just loved the remix and a contract will soon be signed so it will be on the B-side of the release of The Answer.
Later on I produced a remix for another act on the same label as Stigma, Vidar Nord, also known as Planet Nord. His track Seven Seals will soon be released along with a Scarab Remix.
I then got the opportunity to remix the world known act Above & Beyond, for their first single release Far From In Love. My remix has been very well accepted by the fans of Above & Beyond, and was released on ID&T in January along with remixes from Shane 54 and Complexz.
In November 2002 my second release on Alphabet City was released, Genie, a track that I see as my best track this far. Very well apprechiated by my fans (if I have any, hope so
I was also hired to remix the forthcoming Jacob & Mendez-single Moondust and so I did. Its supposed to be released in march/april 2003.
Lets make a jump back to spring 2002. At late spring, early summer, I signed a contract with Misja Helsloot label Gesture Music. Not until march 2003, the first single was released, Ozone - Ionize, along with a Misja Helsloot Remix and a Scarab Remix, made by myself. Misja has been hyping the track since he first heard it. Will be fun to see how it goes.
In february 2003, the rights for Ozone - Theme From The Rock was cleared, and a new contract with Gesture Music was signed. Some people says that this is my best work this far, by far. Big name DJs are up for remixing to push the track even more. Should be out during summer 2003.
Right now, mid march 2003, Im busy working on a remix for Moogwai - Neon on Platipus. Soon Im about to remix a track for Ministry Of Sound, and one for Sony.
Alot of remixes right now. I made one for the Afterglow release Unknown Source - Nadjanema. Im also supposed to produce a follow up to Airbase -Genie. Im working on it. Soon soon!"
