THE SPACE BROTHERS are songwriter/producers RICKY SIMMONDS and STEPHEN JONES. Under various pseudonyms they have released their music through several UK and International labels. Since 1995 they have been through a prolific writing and production schedule, charting in the UK top 40 with thirteen releases.
With the debut offering of "I AM" under their CHAKRA guise, they set a standard for themselves which has been carried through projects including ASCENSION, ESSENCE, FORCE MAJEURE and more recently OXYGEN with the critically acclaimed "AM I ON YOUR MIND"..
PAUL OAKENFOLD originally wanted to sign The Space Brothers' debut single but eventually worked with Ricky and Steve after signing Ascension to PERFECTO. Their ties continued when Paul agreed to mix the bonus cd on their Space Brothers album SHINE.
Aside from their recording work, The Space Brothers have been actively involved in various other projects that include remixes, collaborations, film and television work.
They have written music for the television series "The Sopranos", plus tracks for films including "Manumission The Movie" and the John Travolta film - "Swordfish".
Collaborations with other artists have spawned projects that include Quadraphonic, Pacifica & Kansai and after co-writing the Matt Darey hit "Beautiful", the girl behind the vocals will be releasing her own version of an enduring Chakra favourite. "Love Shines Through" was be released by Marcella Woods through the Ministry of Sound.
Ricky and Steve are also playing a major role in the digital revolution for dance music. They founded the world famous download store Audiojelly.com, which now sells mp3s from over 1000 dance labels across the globe. Trance is heavily featured but artists and labels from several other genres have already been added to the audiojelly.com roster. Aside from a new Lustral album set for release this year, Ricky and Steve have just signed an unprecedented deal with one of the biggest label groups in global dance music.
SIMMONDS & JONES: INTERPRETATIONS (VOLUME 1 –
Armada Music have secured the rights to a new series of EP’s which will see some of the most exciting dj’s and producers at the cutting edge of dance music, working on new mixes from the extensive catalogue of Simmonds & Jones.
A minimum of 8 EP’s will be released over the next two years which will feature some of the greatest vocal trance classics from the last decade. “Shine” (The Space Brothers), “Home” (Chakra), “Am I On Your Mind” (Oxygen), “Someone” (Ascension) are just a few of the tracks from the rich songbook that will feature in this unique series.
