Andrew Parsons was introduced to electronic music by his elder brother in the year 2001. His initial thought was to play Drum ‘N’ Bass, as the hype for it was steadily building. However, he decided to trust his instincts, and play the music which intrigued him the most, Trance. His first influences came from Paul Oakenfold and D.J. Tiesto. Andrew began to practice and made his first mix tape in April 2002. Jon Love, from Orgasmic Entertainment, listened to the tape, and thought Andrew’s track selection was impacting. This lead Andrew to his first gig at an event called “Dynasty” which was held in May 2002.
After the event, his career began to fall in place, as he had hopefully anticipated, and struggled for. He received several gigs in various clubs and parties. His largest break was in August 2002, when he was asked to play The Electric Daisy Carnival 2, and Zen Festival 2, these two being among the largest events in the Texas electronic music scene. At Zen Festival 2, he was the only local to rock it on the main stage. Very impressive considering huge D.J.’s such as Bad Boy Bill, Seb Fontaine, Adam Freeland, and D.J. Craze “rocked the main stage” as well.
Since then, Andrew has had several offers for residencies at clubs. He has also played on many of the world’s largest electronic music radio stations such as Trance Airwaves, DI FM, Energy Dance, Trancesphere Radio, Scy High Radio, Proton Radio, SDTV, Party107, and Eccentricbeats. You may have even caught him on Summer Sessions 2004 and Fall Festival 2004, two of the largest online festivals of the year.
Currently, Andrew does four mix shows including Moody Melodies on www.party 107.com, RealDeep on www.etn.com, Real Music in the Mix on www.risefm.com, and Elevational Essentials on www.mercurysessions.com .
Andrew’s initial accomplishments have lead him to play outside of Texas as well. He has had gigs in states such as, but not limited to, California, Arizona, Missouri, Oklahoma, Illinois, New York, Tennessee, and in March 2006, will be headed to the Winter Music Conference in Florida.
Andrew has begun to expand his musical boundaries, while still ‘trusting his Trance instinct’. He is now playing genres such as House, Breaks, and Techno. He is becoming more globally accredited for remaining on the fore-front of music and technology. With help from his supporting friends, he has picked up the craft of producing. His first release entitled ‘Underworld Dreams’ has received major support from every acknowledged D.J. on the planet. Markus Schulz played his track five times on his show entitled ‘The Global D.J. Broadcast’, and ‘Underworld Dreams’ has also received play from D.J.’s such as Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Above and Beyond, and Paul van Dyk, (Just to name a few.) The track was signed to a new mix compilation called ‘Planet Trance. Vol. 2’ which is compiled and mixed by D.J. Airwave. (Coming soon!) You may purchase your copy on www.realmusicrecordings.com , (Andrew’s label’s website), www.beatport.com , www.audiojelly.com , www.djdownload.com , and can also be purchased on www.amazon.com on February 30, 2006.
Andrew’s future in music is undetermined, but his determination seems to have lead, and will continue to lead him in the right direction. Expect to see more from him including an amazing track he has just finished with the world famous HAWK, from Anjunabeats, entitled ‘HAWK and Andrew Parsons feat. Sasja- Emerald Mine’.
