NU NRG: Bio

"Music is a supernatural power, that succeeds to manipulate peoples emotions with its vibrations.."

Andrea Ribeca and Giuseppe Ottaviani, two ambitious young guys from Italy, who have the same musical objective in common, founded NU NRG in 1999. Their outstanding trance melodies become their distinctive mark and inspire the project NU NRG.

Andrea was born in 1974. At the age of 15 years he begins his DJ adventures with his first sampler, that leads him into the electronic music scene. He sets up his own little studio and produces his first real techno single in 1992. Local DJ Bookings and sessions at radio stations around Rome leave him assured to be on the right track of becoming a professional DJ.

Giuseppe born in 1978, starts with a classical education by taking piano lessons when he is 7 years old. Being extremely bored with the musical education at his school, he strives to become a DJ and quits school a few years later. In 1998 Giuseppe has his own weekly two hours radio show at a popular radio station near Rome. That is when he meets Andrea.

Their first productions together have a lot of success in the roman region and the track "Dreamland" finally leads NU NRG to Paul van Dyk, who signed the guys to his credible label Vandit Records. "Dreamland" made it into the German ODC TOP 40 charts and was also featured on Paul van Dyk¹s Album "The Politics Of Dancing".

For three years Andrea and Giuseppe were very successful with their first German live performance, opening for Paul van Dyk at the "Love from Above" Event and playing a great set on the Vandit Truck at the Loveparade 2002.

2003 they started their first Live UK performance in Sheffield, followed by gigs in London's Heaven in March, Germany¹s biggest indoor event Mayday in April, Switzerland's biggest indoor event Energy in Zurich, Arc in New York in August and the famous Cream party on the party island Ibiza. The last event they did in 2003 was in Sheffield where they performed for the Manga Event on New Years Eve.

In April 2003 their 2nd Vandit Release, the Space Flower EP, came out. Vandit 023 turned out to be a strong follow-up after the successful Dreamland release that proofed their great potential. At the and of 2003 the Connective EP came out on which we had great response!

In 2004 NU NRG had their international breakthrough with gigs all over the globe. Not only in Europe in countries like the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and Swiss they were successful, but also in the USA, Canada and Australia they were welcome guests.

2004 was also the year of the release of their first Album "Freefall". The album "Free Fall" showcases terrific compository skills and embraces outstanding melodies. Some of NU NRG's tracks sound pure and serene, some of them mysterious. Weightless elements compete with pulsating beats and dirty basslines.

A sensational and persuasive debut and a trancy dream come true. Although having released a considerable number of tracks, the two Roman producers avoid featuring all their previous work on the album but rather present new material. "Eclisse", the opener of the album comes as an almost beatless five-minute introduction to the world of NU NRG. While "Visual Sonar" takes up the dense atmosphere of the introduction, the first heavy beats set in and transfer it into a percussive 'submarine' feeling.

Whereas "Supersonic Way" is the first of the clubby tracks with a dark and almost dirty underlying beat, "Bonsai" starts equally dark but even more percussive. Then all of a sudden, a heavenly flute sets in, leading into a beautiful break - definitely one of the strongest tracks and most compelling arrangements of the album!

The following eponymous title "Free Fall" must result from an overload of feel good hormones. Based on a compelling beat, the feathery strings wrap you up in soft clouds of happiness and carry you to sunny shores.

Before reaching Nirvana, "Connective", the most recent NU NRG 12" release on Vandit, takes us back to earth with its funky take. The track develops into a club burner and, after the break, into a wonderful Trance jewel.

"Butterfly" and "Astralis" give even more reason to be struck with astonishment: both tracks magically balance a cool and pulsating undertow with elating elements. "Tommotor", the most technoid approach of the album, is another one of the 'submarine' tracks, starting somewhere in the deepest and darkest sea, then flashing the headlights and darting through the vast ocean with powerful engines.

Mysteriously cool! Closer listening is what it takes to grab the full potential of "Aloa P" with its housy touch, wicked beats and booming bass. A track, which underlines the great compository skills and a sure shot highlight!
