Nitrous Oxide, whose real name is Krzysztof Prętkiewicz (Chris Prent-kie-vitsh), is 23 years old and was born in Poznan (western Poland) in January 1984. He still lives and studies in his hometown. He’s also known in Poland as DJ Speed.

He is one of the rising stars of the young generation. Everything he has achieved in the music scene is due to his obstinacy and passion. Music has been fascinating him since his early childhood and he has decided a long time ago to become an artist. His first tracks date back to 1998 because this is when he first received a PC from his parents. At the beginning he was making music for fun, but when he saw that people liked his tracks he decided to take it seriously. Currently he spends all his free time on creating new tracks.

It’s not easy to accurately describe his sounds because he tried many kinds of clubbing music such as Club, Speed Garage, House, Tribal, Minimal, Euro Trance and Hard Trance. Back in 2002 he was one half of the KlubbMastaz band with DJ Skaner. This band was very popular in the clubbing scene. He was also one half of Dark Bass, Cypher Project, Air Rush, Twisted Twins and Speed & Michel. But recently he decided to stick to Trance music because this is the genre that he enjoys the most. Now it looks a lot like he won’t change his style.

For now he’s making music on the PC, but he has serious plans of having his own studio in the future. Despite his young age his talent has been appreciated nationally as well as internationally. This artist’s skills got the attention of the well known and well respected British label Anjunabeats. Above & Beyond supported Nitrous Oxide and it resulted in such releases as North Pole/Frozen Dreams and Morning Light/Orient Express. These tracks got excellent feedback from well known DJs around the world and were played in their shows.

The track North Pole has a special significance in N2O’s career. Above & Beyond loved it so much that they decided to release it. It got right away favored by many big DJs and became the driving force of his career. It found its well deserved place in the most important compilations such as Anjunabeats Vol.4, Godskitchen Australia and A State Of Trance YearMix 2006. The British label also released amazing remixes by Nitrous Oxide. Aalto – 5 was very popular whereas POS vs Mike Koglin – Untitled Audio showed the real skills of Chris which were appreciated by such artists as Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and Ferry Corsten. These big names played the remix of Untitled Audio many times in their gigs and radio shows. Nitrous Oxide also formed the duo 3rd Moon with CellX. They have been releasing such successful tracks as DNA/RNA, Diving In The Sky, Meltdown and No More W8ing.

The year 2006 was particularly successful in Poland. Nitrous Oxide’s DJ career is his second priority after music production. He started playing in June 2003 but after the successes achieved outside, he was regularly invited to the biggest events in his homeland although he had a proposition of playing in other countries, among others in USA. He was in the line-ups of Sunrise Festival, Dancetination and the first edition in Poland of the well known Sensation White for which he also produced the anthem Cumulus. The organizers have never been disappointed and the ravers were breathtaken everytime they saw him live in the mix.

The year 2007 started very well too. The tracks Morning Light/Orient Express were released in May. DJ Mag described them as masterpieces and gave them a grade of 5/5. His latest 2007 release Amnesia is another superb track that shows his skills. You can find it in the album Anjunabeats Vol.5 CD1. Soon a new track Waves will be released. He was part of the prestigious line-up of DJs invited to the Polish edition of Creamfields on 7th July.

Nitrous Oxide always tries his best to develop his skills by accumulating new experience. He will do everything to make his music even better and hope that his tracks will have more and more fans in Poland and worldwide. Taking into consideration his career evolution in the last 2 years we can expect from him tracks created at a very high level and gigs in his homeland as well as in the world.
