One of the most exciting new names to emerge from the electro house scene in the last year, European bright new hopes Mashtronic make some of the most slamming club music around. Two like minded individuals whose love of electronic music brought them together - fusing elements of funk, disco, acid, electro and progressive to create a unique style of house music.
Matthew Bradley (aka Mathias Bradler) was born in the late 1970s in Germany and it was in the city of Cologne that his love for house music was born. From the age of 18 he began DJing, earning a reputation for his twisted house sets, before moving his attention to production.
Further north Cid Inc (real name: Henri Hurtig) was born exactly the same year in Sweden, and in the early 1990's discovered music production on an old Commodore Amiga and its early Tracker programs. This changed his life forever - wanting to develop his skills further, he studied sound engineering in 2001 setting him up for his integral role in the Mashtronic project.
The story of how Mathias and Henri met in 2004 perfectly captures the zeitgeist - over the internet. A chance encounter via an online forum saw them discover their shared passion for electronic music production - and despite living in different countries (Henri now lives in Finland) they decided to collaborate. And this collaboration is entirely modern - chat software like MSN, Skype, AIM etc allow them to work on tunes as if they are in the same room, sending tracks and arrangements flying across the internet. The only time the pair actually meet is at the weekends for their thundering DJ sets, which have taken them across Europe (UK, France, Portugal, Slovenia, Russia, Lithuania, Switzerland, Ukraine etc as well as Finland and Germany of course).
When their first self titled EP was released in July 2004 on the German label Chicaria, it became a huge club success, and was quickly followed by a second EP later that same year. This caught the ear of Desyn Masiello who featured the track Supernova' in his much vaunted Essential Mix, and followed up by signing the track for his own label SexOnWax.Whilst Mashtronic were already busy remixing artists such as Sonique and Johnjon & Chopstick, it was their remix of Chable & Bonnici's Ride' on Alternative Route that brought them to the attention of many. Coupled with single and EP projects on labels including SR2 and the Canadian label Eyezcream, plus well received offshoot projects such as Tronic Inc and Discogloss ensured 2005 provided the foundation for what is to come.
As we enter 2006, Mathias and Henri have launched their new labels Mashtronic Records and Restart Records have completed a series of exciting new original productions, and produced remixes for labels that include Nascent Recordings, Archangel, Global Underground, Proton Music, Oven Ready, Deeper Substance as well as the prestigious Bedrock label run by John Digweed, who himself is a huge fan of their work. Indeed their remix of his own "Warung Beach" was a recent Buzz Chart no.1. Their brand new single "Bionic Funk" a huge bassbin defying funker, is also forthcoming on Bedrock.
It's safe to say the sound of Mashtronic will be heard for a long time to come!
