The world's most expensive and biggest 10-stars hotel, and it's going to cost around $3.6 billion. Supposed to be built facing the new marina in Beirut, and it's officially announced today.

It was planned to be constructed in Dubai, however they shifted to Beirut.

Saw this on the news a cople of weeks ago, not sure if its still on but it looks out of this world, beirut is so gonna kick dubai's ass. Dubai really took a hit from the recent credit crisis!

That's a very complicated design.
And i agree on the political instability part,its gonna take hell a lot of effort to secure it,from natural disasters or terrorist attacks,neighbor countries (Israel) might consider a plan to get rid of it,nothing hurts israel more than progress in lebanon.

^ Fully agreed, there's enemies from within who will try to disturb such a plan as well. Lebanon will NEVER reach a phase where such things are easy to make, which is really sad!

I disagree with all of u,if u really think bout it,the investors in that kind of project are mostly "khalijieh" or outsiders,90% of them have good relationship with israel or any other country that would try 2 harm lebanon,and well,people who are able to invest in such a huge project costin that ammount of money,must indeed,have a huge reputation in the political and economical aspect and therefore they are probably feared...

I believe that it's waaaaay too soon for Lebanon to have such a hotel. It's interesting investment indeed, but it will be a success only when things will come back to normal. But good luck with it

There's no City or Country around that competes with Lebanon or Beirut,Dubai's obsession with mega tall buildings and scoring #1s on every aspect is getting ridiculous and funny when you hear they spend millions just to be recognized as the number 1 country in fireworks showcase.

Beirut suffered over the years from wars to civil wars and still managed to rise up as if nothing happened,and a little history will teach or remind you that when Beirut had it's Golden era it was the best City at it's time on the business and banking level,just give Beirut a balanced stable political situation and see what happens,The success people achieve here is from lebanese engineers,lebanese minds lebanese hard workers...80% of dubai is a mixture of people from all over the world that it's own identity is at a major crisis from disappearing.
