LMAO , biggy stop trying to make enemies mate! Dubai's economic system proved rather unstable in recent months, after the downturn hit it hard. Ive always supported the growth of Dubai, since its a fellow Arab country and it shows a good image to the west, so i wont argue against Dubai, but I will argue against your idiotic claims that Beirut is shite and all. Beirut's charm lies in a different place than that of Dubai, it lies in its history and deep culture. And as sam said, we all saw how after two years of having the downtown practicly dead, many restuarants got striaght back to their feet, and many thanks to alot of the gulf and arab tourists who always believed in Lebanon. This is why your words make me surprised, all my emirati friends adore Beirut!!

lol why do you guys get so offended?

The fat guy is right, seen from a superficial simplistic angle, Beirut has nothing to offer now but a great weather, hommos and tabbouleh and bikinis. Of course, he doesn't care about big causes, history, vibes, culture, civilization, freedom, etc and the whys and hows Lebanon was ruined (to defend causes he surely has forgot about). Nowadays, Arabs are individualistic, superficial and materialistic and this is why they are going so backwards. Add that the whole surrounding Arab world has always been jealous from Lebanon, so neighbors tend to get happy when they see us in misery. and we deserve it.

all of you guys without a life fighting over stupid things without making any point listen up....this hotel is a chance for lebanon to start over (not reallly)...and i heard about that project in the begining of 2008....and i know also that more than 90% of the investors arent lebanese (mostly sa3oudieh and 2imarat)...and these people dont have any problems with lebanon nor israel....so dont turn this topic into a war area for nothing...and stick with the topic...peace

Lebanon started over ages ago, but no one wants to see that (external powers I mean). Downtown didnt happen by accident, and the whole touristic boom that affected the country so positively comes to prove that indeed the country was heading to super times. But the assassination of Rafic Hariri was a turning point, every thing went down hill from there. Now will this hotel be the point that Beirut starts to return to glory, maybe so, and it would be ironic in a good way if indeed it was a Hariri who kick starts things again. Arab investors have been swayen away from the country in recent times, its not going to be easy to get them back here, but then again the downturn might have had a positive impact on us.

Well,did any1 heard michel haeik on new years eve? he mentioned somethin bout a huge project in saint georges area...i guess he was talkin bout that...so theres probably an 80% chance(considerin michel's expectations)that this hotel will be built startin from 2009
